Several people asked me if I would post the eulogy I read at my father's funeral.
Here it is with a little of the preamble....
I'm an artist and really a collage artist at heart. So here I poached bits and pieces, fragments and shards from mostly (but not exclusively) anonymous sources, but also messages, emails, notes I received. These were my materials.
I return, not to Thomas Lail Studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10237478682599605435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3187987786251595506.post-60328807588545023452019-04-11T11:16:00.002-07:002019-04-11T13:07:34.682-07:00Sarge<!--[if gte mso 9]>

beyond FB, but whose works I enjoy: Lauren Luloff and Dusa Jesih

Commodity critique of the '80s and it was a hell of year for that
generation and its descendants.
I suffered through all the poorly written criticism, but they were
wrong: Kara Walker's installation at the now vanished Domino Sugar
Factory in Brooklyn was pitch-perfect. A meditation on history, a
detourment of Thomas Lailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787010983674037907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3187987786251595506.post-28983842793353201512014-12-01T16:30:00.001-08:002015-06-01T10:23:33.849-07:00New Work in Hudson Valley Faculty Exhibition

Kara Walker at the Domino Sugar Factory in Williamsburg is a
do-not-miss masterpiece. Yes, masterpiece. She’s always good, but here
she’s aweing. Everyone will claim for
years that “they were there” and that “they saw it,” you might as well
actually be there and see it. Added bonus of getting to Thomas Lailhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15787010983674037907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3187987786251595506.post-75222373723853122472014-02-15T11:36:00.000-08:002014-06-11T09:03:46.423-07:00New Work, Spring/Break 2014

No one asked me for my top picks this year, but I thought I'd list them
anyway. Full disclosure-- Many of these are folks I know and admire.
It's a small world after all... In no particular order:
1). An Armory Show at Opalka Gallery, Sage Colleges-- this sprawling,
cacophonous salon orchestrated by Michael Oatman and Ken Ragsdale set a
high water mark for future Upstate
