World We Have Lost on Not For Tourists: New York

From Not For Tourists: New York...
Thomas Lail's "The World We Have Lost" is showing at Masters & Pelavin Gallery in Tribeca. Lail's large-scale collages focus on the theme of lost Utopias and incorporate images of some of the iconic futuristic communities and buildings from the 1960s and '70s. Lail emailed to say that the largest piece is 8 by 13 feet and is titled after Lee Ranaldo's (of Sonic Youth) new solo record: "Lee is a friend of mine and his 'Tomorrow Never Comes' (which itself is a reference to the Beatles 'Tomorrow Never Knows') seemed like a perfect title for that monumental piece that summed up the sense of lost dream I was looking for -- and it was on heavy rotation in my studio." The show is up until May 19. See the gallery website for more information.
